Power Metal out of the land of thousand lakes? Who doesn’t think immediately at the Nuclear Blast Primus Stratovarius? If you further know, that the actual CD Delirium Veil of the Finns TWILIGHTNING was mixed by mastermind Timo Tolkki, the perfect clone should be no question, or shouldn’t it? It is not as easy as it sounds, even if you aren’t totally wrong with the idea.
TWILIGHTNING are certainly using a lot of the key elements of their big brother, but they aren’t using them so consequently like Sonata Arctica. You can hear in their music a lot of influences of the melodic rock era with bands like Europe. These things they are mixing to their sound on Delirium Veil. What I like at best with TWILIGHTNING (even better than Stratovarius are doing it) is, that they are able to transport different moods within their songs. Each song is a little different, even if they clearly belong all together.
It should at last be mentioned that they are a melodic Power Metal band through and through, which should please every fan of the genre, like many other too. That is the main problem to be so much better than the rest to get the attention unlike the others which are currently releasing record after record endlessly. TWILIGHTNING have the spoken qualities. If the fans are willing to recognize them only time will tell.
