With two demo
releases up their sleeves, highly acclaimed, both by fans and
media, German modern thrashers THE VERY END have finally
secured a deal and now released their long awaited first full-length
entitled Vs. Life. Besides two songs (Flatline
and The Loss Theory) from the 2007 demo Soundcheck
For Your Funeral nine new crushers get offered, easily
jumping over the bar already raised high by previous releases.
Flatline is still the perfect opener, thundering lovely
brutal out of the speakers with the distinctive and alternating
singing of Bjoern Gosses. Songs merge seamlessly, reducing pace
as in Bleed Tomorrow, The Negative or accelerating as in
Death Ticket and Stabwounds. No mercy, no time to
take a breath, instead wickedly groovy riffwork and hooks galore,
displaying overwhelming playfulness, brutality and lively variety.
No blinkers when it comes to musical directions. Everything is
allowed: Death, Thrash, old school Metal, Rock and modern Core,
with playful finesse and approaches influenced by other genres
too. Highly skilled musicianship and a powerful production leave
nothing to be desired. Vs. Life is surely no innovation
highlight but significantly stands out the masses and kicks so
damn fucking ass! Nothing less than a killer album!
