Seven years
after their brutal masterpiece Desert Northern Hell
and overcoming a temporary split-up, TSJUDER are back and
will not disappoint any fan. The album is, pretty much clichéd,
entitled Legion Helvete, but the title is actually
not misleading: right from the first second hell breaks loose
for a good 40 minutes. Throughout the album, fast and furious
Black Metal dominates, just a few tracks like e.g. Fra en Råtten
Kiste are featuring some unexpectedly catchy mid tempo riffs.
Despite the high speed almost all the time one does not get bored
quickly for two reasons: On one hand, TSJUDER make heavy
use of tempo changes, and on the other, they are not shy to borrow
from nearby genres. Just for examples, the great Black Shadows
Of Hell has some Black’n’Roll elements and Blod
Og Aske even shows some melodic death metal tunes. Although
the first seven tracks are short and crisp (only one of them breaking
the four minutes mark), the last song gives prove that the band
did not write short songs because they lack of ideas. Vårt
Helvete is a ten minute epic combining all elements of true
Nordic Black Metal to a worthy album finale.
It’s pretty obvious, that TSJUDER anno 2011 still
do not try to win a price for the most virtuous guitar work. Most
riffs and song structures are rather simple and raw, but perfectly
used to create an old school like, yet powerful sound and atmosphere.
Add a fittingly raw production and you got a great Black Metal
album.
After a long time of absence, this album instantly gains TSJUDER
a place among today’s Nordic Black Metal elite!
