| These
Germans cannot convince me in total so far. But with their conceptual
album Mirror Of Creation TOMORROW’S
EVE are definitive heading towards the right direction
– that’s for sure. Prog-Power-Metal on a highly skilful
and ambitious level is being presented, although in my point of
view the prog-parts are being used in a too excessive way. I am
not talking about the technical side, however, but what I dislike
about TOMORROW’S EVE’s style is their
way of composing songs that are all between 7 and 11 mins. of length.
This is making Mirror Of Creation a very
hard-to-listen and straining CD where I am missing catchy tunes
from time to time. It’s a pity, ‘cause basically the
material is very strong and versatile and presents a lot of cool
riffing. Especially the occasional double-bass-industrial-attacks
are being weaved properly into the song and ensuring the band’s
own touch. Furthermore I’d like to point out the playing time
of more than 70 mins. where a lot of other acts can take a leaf
out of. Should TOMORROW’S EVE be able to
become a bit more compact and throw some of their pathos overboard
the next album could become a real strong one! Everyone listening
to acts like Dream Theater should definitely give this band a try.
