On THORONDIR's new work, a heroic, dramatic mood is clearly at the center of the action. Dark clattering rhythms accompany epically drawn, sometimes sad, then again combative melody lines; a hissing voice interprets this concept album about a wanderer, who searches for answers, in combination with good clear singing in an appropriate way.
Much takes place in a medium-fast tempo, which is why the attacking passages rush forward all the more powerfully, as in Rache Durch Das Schwert. The band fathoms a broad spectrum and it takes several runs to grasp the subtleties. It seems a bit uniform at the beginning, but the album contains a lot of variety in its homogeneity. The good mood hop rhythms are also on board and Fenriswolf goes hunting with them. The composition Dunkle Zeichen offers rousing sounds with its rolling, racy beat and sluggish intermediate tones; only the heroic tenors are not quite my taste, but this stylistic device becomes - thanks to Odin! - very discreetly used.
The sextet intones his epic pieces in variable, sometimes prudent, then again effervescent ways and can thus pull every pagan metalist to his side with an opulent, sweeping opus.
