Black Metal
without modern influences or compromises is played by THORNIUM,
but fortunately the music does not end up in chaos or boredom.
The melodies
are held in the background, but they are omnipresent like it is
used to be in many other Swedish Black Metal groups. Most of the
time, the speed is enormously and this album features eight high
speed neck-breakers, which do not leave space to take breath.
Sometimes, a groovy rhythm flashes through and attaches a bit
of catchiness to the tunes.
The band manages to build up eerie sentiments through apocalyptic
sound sequences, which contrast the aggressive style felicitously.
In addition, dirty Rock’n’Roll elements enrich the
sound. The voice shows up in hysterical screeched manner, sometimes
supported by mystical choir passages.
On the surface,
Mushroom Clouds And Dusk seems to be another good
Black Metal album offering only felicitous speed attacks, but
the devil is in the details: hidden in the background, flirring
guitar solos or nice vocal arrangements are ready to get detected.
This release needs some time, but it is worth to drown into the
sound’s depth!
