Well then,
today's December 24th. This date reminds of something, anyway
back to work. Don't care 'bout these points beside. Meanwhile
the already 4th track of THE DUSKFALL's Frailty
is falling outa my speakers. So far I can say a very respectable
debut of these Swedish guys, but have nearly all new Swedish bands
to sound like In Flames? There are people who say In Flames are
getting bad. No they doesn't. They only do something different
now and let others put out records with ten times Jotun on it.
Alright THE DUSKFALL isn't that bad. Basically
this is a nice album. Well, maybe I should pretend not to know
the other Swedish bands and listen to this one here. The Light
is a good opener for this album. Melodic, some faster, some lower
parts. Seems ok. Track 3 is already my first highlight. Agoraphobic
is really a fast one. The album goes on diversified. None
comes with midtempo, sometimes even calm passages followed by
the fast Farewell Song which kicks ass again. You may
think whatever you want, but I like the double bass. Ok, there
may be some people who think without snare blastparts it isn't
really Death Metal. Be sure it is! A lot of melody in it, especially
within the guitar solos which all get played by guest musician
Magnus Olsson. Leaves the question, how they will manage this
on stage? Could be interesting. Seems that Mikale Sandorf (guit.
– ex Gates Of Ishtar) has to practice a lot before he starts
any tour.
Altogether
a very fine album with a perfect production. No surprise, 'cause
it's coming out of Dug-Out studios (In Flames, Strapping Young
Lad, Meshuggah).Well I give 7 points for it, 'cause beside all
the critic and comparing it pleases me. Go on guys and with a
little more sound of your own there will be more points available
for your next long player. So long 'til next time.
