Of Malice And Evil is the long play debut from Germany’s thrashers TERRORBLADE and according to the title it truly is an uncompromising, nasty and absolutely heavy piece aiming right at your guts. It also marks well the upcoming 10th anniversary of the unchanged formation which already left some traces in the underground due to many intense live performances as well as two demos and two EP's (Pure And Ugly, 2007/Thrash Will Strike Back, 2009). Especially Thrash Will Strike Back set a real exclamation point at that time. Recording the new material, TERRORBLADE entered the Gernhart Studios with Martin Buchwalter (Perzonal War drummer, already produced Accu§er, Squealer, Suidakra). The arduous production period brought the band to their physical and mental limits before the anxious wait for the artwork and a potential label began. But finally the degenerated baby was born and the endurance was definitely worth it. The infernal trio demonstrates that they are able to pound exactly to the point, at the same time fortunately not missing the raging element and the rowdiness required for Old School Thrash. The tricky balance between a punching production and underground authenticity is impressively preserved. The forceful ahead going songs are based on hammering guitar riffs which are wonderfully suited for headbanging. The nasty organ of bassist MetalB fits perfectly and is somehow reminiscent of Tom Angelripper (could be louder sometimes in the final mix). My personal highlights are Prometheus, Raw War Madness (what a breaker!) and Time To Die while the remaining numbers are not appreciably weaker. The consistent high level is really remarkable for a debut. The last two songs Wiedertäufer and World Is Broken originally appeared on the Pure & Ugly EP and now shine in a new (sound)- guise and still make a lot of fun. In addition the ingenious cover artwork deserves a special commendation, including the design of the booklet with a picture for each song. Conclusion: Metalheads with a penchant for classic Teutonic thrash like Sodom and Destruction as well as the primordial soup Venom and the inevitable Slayer should check out Of Malice And Evil, turning up the volume, thereby decapitate a beer and mosh! Yesss!
