After 13 seconds of a contemplative piano melody, RIVERS ABLAZE let it rip: complex metal with lots of time changes is on the agenda. The trio doesn't hesitate to add some uncomfortable, dissonant melodies and builds a multi-layered structure on this foundation. Sawing riffs break through the technically sophisticated constructed song framework, which can convince purely instrumental due to the variability.
The complicated passages are juxtaposed with beautiful melodic arcs and grooving sequences, or rather, these opposing poles complement each other in Janus-faced interaction. The ponderously grinding or spacey experimental parts challenge the listener and stretch the nerves to the torture; on the other hand, wonderfully broadly drawn guitar melodies (listen and be amazed in the course of The Manifestation Of Supreme Darkness). This interesting field of tension immerses the music in a roller coaster of emotions and sends the recipient on a varied journey.
Devoid Dying Sun is not suitable as a mere background sound for the lower urges, this work takes a bite in the emotional nerve center due to its bulky and at the same time highly melodic mode of action in various facets - as if a feast would fuse a delicate as well as bitter aftertaste...
