Polsi: Questioning my musical experience I come to the conclusion, that bands from Switzerland work a lot more professional than their Austrian companions when it comes to production, layout and organization. Except of some demos of Happy Hippos Massaker I haven’t faced a Swiss demo with a comparable bad production like on one of these countless senseless Black Metal projects from Austria. And also NEKROPOLIS support my theory. Already the promo-CD comes with a professional printed cardboard shape and the fitting sound offers a huge density and transparency.
The band plays a combination of melodic Black- and Death Metal, which is hard to compare with another band. Keyboards are used in various ways. In the right moments they play a main role, otherwise they stand in the background, forming a wall of sound to support the atmosphere. Despite the use of synthesizers the most important aspect of NEKROPOLIS is Metal. You won’t find wild blast beats there, but intense double bass drumming and mighty riffs form a good base fort he rest of the instruments. The vocals always move between deep grunts and hysteric screams, there is no fear of decent effects. NEKROPOLIS also pay attention to details; you can find some movie samples for example. Until now The Perversion Of Humanity is a quite good album, but not yet a real hammer. What is missed are some outstanding songs. The songs on this CD are all on the same high level without good or bad exceptions, but you won’t find a true highlight. But this is the only negative thing about The Perversion Of Humanity and I’m sure the band will improve this on their next record.

Jussi: Melodically chilling piano tunes played soothing the senses immortalized in the moment when listening to NEKROPLIS’s The Perversion of Humanity intro track Nocturnus Aeternus. Moving and riveting such a timeless extreme metal entrance fades into past revealing the true musical essence of NEKROPOLIS. An outfit that one can label as many extremities of metal hailing from Switzerland these five unique personalities combine dark melodic elements to a fierce sound that can be more so death metal but in musical contrast they mix this variation in well sequenced tones that more or less can be quite severe. Hard hitting rhythmic patterns of drums blended with chord shattering guitar works with songs Aeons Of Technology and Mental Abuse as well as others that give this band a level of professionalism they so rightfully deserve.

One of the bonuses that I find intriguing is the intro samples to some of the songs that give a sinister appeal with religious aspects tied to what is being mentioned in these small spoken snippets. Not a bad concept! All songs are mastered well musically in recorded production and overall lyrically approached. Vocals are intense and straight forward corresponding with the rest of NEKROPLIS’s musical take. Fiercely brutal in the face of musical advisory this band strikes out new territory claiming new victims into the world of NEKROPOLIS. Currently being one of them I give into this world! Way to go Swiss gents!
