This split
CD is already 2 years old, but nevertheless the music is worth
a review (despite there’s only one song from each band on
the album), so here we go: The Basques, as well as the Austrians
should be well-known in the Black Metal underground. Both bands
consist only of 2 members (okay, DAEMONLORD have
a drum computer, so they are three, if you want). The CD starts
with KEY OF MYTHRAS (the solo project of ex-Sanguis
front man Werner Hochleitner alias Duncan who is supported by
his ex-band mate Svart on drums once again) and their song So
Let It Be Done, a catchy (yet varying) piece of hate that’s
very old school but as well shows elements of Dark Metal and Thrash
(okay, Thrash elements ARE old school…). The listener gets
7 minutes of very well done stuff that should satisfy every fan
of that style. With The Sharpened Edge of Ignorance,
the best track I ever heard from DAEMONLORD,
it still gets more raw. If we forget about the drum computer for
a moment, I’d say: That’s exactly how Black Metal
should be! An extremely catchy leading riff (and some more riffs
that crawl directly into your ear and remain there), bestial screams
and a dark, dark atmosphere. Long live the Basque Country! I’m
absolutely looking forward to the new DAEMONLORD
album (their third fulltime recording, besides a lot of demos,
EP’s and split singles) I don’t know if there are
some units left of Bonded By Hatred (it’s limited to 500
pieces), but if yes, you should definitely try to get one!
