Whoops ... and there I thought this band would have called it quits after they have released this superfluous remix album two years (?) ago. And all of a sudden I find fully unexpectedly this CD during a break in Hamburg. Because I liked the last regular album Iurtuna a lot I just grabbed this CD without a listening session.

The stylistic scope has not changed. They still orient to the old and unfortunately buried Dead Can Dance (RIP). But admittedly we don’t have to deal with cheesy copy cats. IMPRESSIONS OF WINTER are fortunately able to find their own alcove within the predetermined stylistics. Their music always had something floating to me, a feeling of gentle movement without the impression of unnecessary hecticness. In fact melodies and singing were imbedded in a wonderfully elaborated mystical atmosphere. So it happens on End Of A Summer too.

Thus these 11 tracks are perfectly made for the fall season. With partly pulsating percussions and sparkling sounds provided which especially stand out from the more dark sound scope, a few songs develop to real catchy tunes. For example the opener Endless Summer where a slow guitar melody gets accompanied by harps etc. and gets you distinguished of what will come. At the following Salty Tears IMPRESSIONS OF WINTER show themselves more from their rhythmical side, whereas they process above all African and Australian elements. Also very beautiful is the more than 6 minutes running Eternal Grey and the completing Epilogue.
Because of the pretty varied sounds End Of A Summer stays continuously atmospheric and interesting while Felicia as well as Andres Waldura manage to set accents with their singing lectures.

And although it seems on their homepage, that IMPRESSIONS OF WINTER themselves are surprised about there own release I just can recommend this CD. At least check it out and listen to it!
