Hey, a pitch black pro-printed CDR with a very great design which lets me suppose that the music will offer me Hardcore or even New Metal. But I got fooled: HORRICANE from Estonia create a very individualistic sound and are supposed to be the most popular extreme metal band in Estonia. The band has played gigs with groups like Vader, Fear Factory, Susperia or Behemoth. Well, this is a well-done work, if you look at the fact, that this band was founded just in 2002.
The style of HORRICANE is very unlikely: Very fat and abyss-deep guitar riffs in a groovy-dissonant way of Morbid Angel or sometimes even Fear Factory (cause of the uncountable breaks, fill-ins and outbreaks), a very powerful voice and the very exactly drums, which are not too fast but like a tank. The most extravagant element of the music is the great work of the synthies: sick and psychotic keys and samples create a horror-atmosphere.
The guys behind HORRICANE are very professional, the musical stuff is very technical, but there is still enough place for true groovy and catchy parts. I couldn’t believe that you can make in Estonia such a great production – it can be easily compared to the major productions of the Abyss or the Morrisound Studion!
A great start for this young band – they manage a great mix between ghostly atmosphere and brutal Death Metal Sound. The lyrics are even Rock n Roll and kick ass.
The only one critic on my side: The album is too short!
