Spanish samples,
distorted screams of females in acute danger of live and unidentifiable
sound shreds… Already the one and a half minute lasting
intro makes it clear to the respective, predisposed audience:
this can only be a release of the two electro roughnecks from
the Moloch Mexico-City, which is torturing the ear.
Tales From The Third World the first real song on this
album is following this line consequently in a typical HOCICO
style and inspires with smashing rhythm, melodies going straight
into the ear and of course the hateful, distorted vocals from
Erk. Definitely one of the highlights is Wrack And Ruin
and characteristically for the output of the duo. Further highlight
of this album is the already published single Born To Be Hated.
Ragged rhythms with a whipping snare and wafting synthies in combination
with a refrain, sticking at once in the brain, which is pure culture
and food for electro heads who want to dance. There are no blackouts
worth mentioning on Wrack And Ruin.
Everything seems to be of one piece, likely due to the fact that
the long instrumental parts typical for HOCICO
are placed in the last part of the album.
With Wrack And Ruin the two Mexicans
managed to get a better foothold among the top bands of tougher
electro and the fans will surely not be disappointed. But one
should keep in mind, that HOCICO do not take
the risk of experimenting with this album and wanted to be on
the safe side, which is not adding any new facets to the HOCICO
sound
