I did expect something great after the felicitous debut album and the follower Aokigahara comes up to this prospects totally: melancholy, desperation and aggression get combined to an explosive, suspense-packed acoustic experience, which captures my attention despite the overlong compositions and lets the playtime pass quickly.

Each song offers wonderful melodies, for a bigger part played by guitars, enriched by a sometimes appearing piano. The speed changes, partly surprising, from contained, calm sequences leading to competent harsh presented attacks. I appreciate the touching voice, whereby hysterical screeches dominate. Some guest vocalists increase the successful presentation additionally.
HARAKIRI FOR THE SKY present a downright hit with the second piece Jhator. A multitude of ear candy melodies pervades the whole arrangement, besides heart-rending clean guitars, the band enthuses with rapid accelerations to care for an irresistible knock-on-effect. The musicians manage to act in enthralling manner during each track with the alliance of wistful melodies and double-bass or filigree acoustic passages and blast-beats. No matter if sounds are layered one upon the other or a simple chord stands in the cliff-hanging space all alone – any particle contributes its mite to the dynamic impact of this outstanding work. Many details can be heard in the background, because the group does not use striking or obvious claptrap. In several cases, a goose-pimps-chord may appear in the final stages of a song, so that the music stays variable from the first to the last second.

HARAKIRI FOR THE SKY play on the listener’s emotional claviature in excellent manner, as they boost the fast parts with an extra-portion of force and explosiveness through nicely integrated breathers. The enormous overall effect could fascinate all adepts of Agrypnie and the common tour is a perfect match on these grounds!
