The queen of evil is back!!! 12 years after the last output The Black Book (‘91) Ann Boley returns to the Metal business, she has put behind herself completely in the 90‘s. Why she is coming back? Well, first of all to write down and work up all the pains and mourning she had inside when friends and family members passed away (e.g. Wendy O. Williams, Dawn Crosby, Cozy Powell - R.I.P. mates) or to settle various accounts which brought her to headlines lately (stalkers, murdering ex-manager ...etc.)

After HELLION already was nominated as best L.A. band back in ‘82 (only with demo tapes) lot of things went wrong for this exceptional band and did not work out well. Despite of a high fan status the band never obtained the acceptance it has deserved or even managed the breakthrough. After two EP’s (Hellion 83 and Postcards From The Asylum 88) and two full-length releases (Screams In The Night 87 – cult album!!! and The Black Book 91) HELLION had been fallen into oblivion. Tours went wrong, albums did not get released on time and much more trouble. Now the eccentric psychic talented witch is back and it seems things work out much better.
Though I have to confess at the first spin of Will Not Go Quietly I had to pause for a moment and to take a deep breathe. Well-knowing that modern elements have found its way on this record this album ran down across. But already at the second spin things joined together more and more homogeneously.
Opener and title track Will Not Go Quietly / Resurrection (Resurrection was the first title of this CD) starts out with a somberly oppressive intro fading to a balladesque melody, just to turn out into a powerful Hard Rock number with fast guitar lines. Yeah!!! That’s Ann and HELLION! Welcome is this special song which acts a bit cumbersome ‘coz of its modern elements and partly pretty off-key sounding guitars. Added by Anns singing which has a hysterical touch and lends the atmosphere a paranoid direction. These special guitar hooks you will also find on Revenge. Afterwards all songs are ranging within classic Hard Rock / Heavy Metal with a significant touch of the 80‘s and guitar riffs leaned by Mercyful Fate and Alice Cooper. Pure nostalgia! Of course, Anns voice has suffered over the years. It is not that strong and clear anymore, more smoky and raspy. But it does not matter it gives the entire thing a more demonic panache. At The Last Straw I got reminded to Doro and old Warlock now and then. Wildest Dreams seems to be a cover version, although I don’t know in what drawer I have to peg this song. Last song I would like to mention is Dream Deceiver, a song rocking out very well and a refrain to sing along.
The lyrics deal – as I already mentioned above – with experiences of life. The cover artwork was done by Travis Smith and looks pretty atypical.

Upshot: Ann Boley still rocks as hell! Will Not Go Quietly is powerfully produced, kicks ass and gives you much pleasure. So, mates in the same age group with nostalgic tendencies will love this release and of course, fans of this genre as well :)
Welcome back into the future Ann!
