The overlong
intro Watchful Eye Of Doom prepares for expected blasts
without end and sheer aggression in martial and threatening manner
– but this actual release also knows to surprise in parts.
Eternal Might holds rhythm orientated, technical and eerie
high speed metal without experiments. Breath-taking instrumental
work, apocalyptic moods and background sepulchral choirs dominate
the quite traditional track. In the same style, Alchemy Of
Blood is unleashed, but this tune offers playful guitar lines
and it is clear that HATE do not only act in very fast
way. This intention is obvious during the cool rhythmic variation
in the middle part and the highly melodic ending sequence of Timeless
Kingdom. The change-over of blast beats and throttled rhythms
boosts Festival Of Slaves to a very interesting level,
ere HATE show their epic side with the reduced speed and
increased impact of Sadness Will Last Forever. Eminently
the towed guitar leads act as guarantor for building up spirit.
Solarflesh, the quasi title track, is introduced in related
atmospheric style. In this case, the transition of mad guitar
licks, captivating aggression and background melodic finesse turns
out to be very felicitous. Additionally, the unobtrusive modern
undertone cares for a special zest. This disposition to specialness
shows up clearer and clearer the longer the album lasts. Endless
Purity grabs me with doomy measures and efficient, not continuous
blast beats and rhythmic alternations without leaving melodies
completely aside. Finally, a female voice appears in course of
the concluding track Mesmerized and attaches oriental flair
as new facet.
It is interesting that the contained, massive passages sound more
focused and more fascinating, against what the fast and perfectly
played parts miss out the whiff of glossiness. HATE should
definitely use their keen of experiments more often!
