HANOI
ROCKS? That’s of course an interesting statement.
I have never been to Hanoi and that’s the reason why I cannot
agree nor contradict. I don’t know either why some musicians
from Scandinavia name themselves after a city in Asia. To be honest,
I don’t really care. But I wonder why their music is called
„Glam Rock“. I used to be a huge fan of glam rockers
while I was a little child because their almost extremely ridiculous
outfits were terrible funny and their music was so simple that
even the youngest kid could accompany it by tapping his feet.
The simplicity of this music made them very popular for hooligans
and introduced them to soccer events, where drunken British often
shouted a hit of Gary Glitter. For all that HANOI ROCKS
are brilliant professionals who play a very colourful rock’n’roll.
It is said HANOI ROCKS changed the course of
rock music. Really? I didn’t know them until Dajana sent
me Another Hostile Takeover. I appreciate
that. These folks have very interesting stories to tell. If they
once release their lyrics as a book, I gonna buy some of them
for myself and friends.
The history of this band and their many previous line-ups is interesting.
Those who like to know about that can find a lot of information
on their well-made homepage. Then you are able to decide yourself
whether HANOI ROCKS are as important as bands
like the Rolling Stones or Led Zeppelin.
Another Hostile Takeover offers a broad
variety of ideas and melodies which are perfectly executed. One
can sense the fun they have while playing together. If you like
glam or psychedelic rock you will enjoy. Otherwise this CD is
probably at least a good investment for your next party you celebrate
with different generations.
