I couldn't believe my eyes, as I saw the new HAMMERFALL album in the CD store. I, as a huge HAMMERFALL fan, of course bought it immediately, ran home and threw the piece into my stereo. I knew, yes, I knew, that that CD would be great, like all the other HAMMERFALL albums. The new CD is called Chapter V: Unbent, Unbowed Unbroken, of course a real metallic name. This is definitely a big "fuck you" to everyone who always disliked the style of HAMMERFALL and criticised their appearance. The boys did not frighten of those statements. No, they just did what they wanted. And that's how it should be. Like the last, very successful album Crimson Thunder, the new CD was also produced by the famous Charlie Bauerfeind, and has of course again a very powerful and great sound.
Unfortunately I realized that the single songs are much slower than i.e. killers like Heeding The Call or Trailblazers. But the style didn't actually change; you'll just realize more complexity and maturity in the songs.
The first song on the album is called Secrets, which is one of the faster ones. Besides the new single Blood Bound, there are fortunately real killers like Born To Rule or Hammer Of Justice on the CD. Those songs really have enormous potential. The last song on the album is called Knights Of The 21st Century, which lasts unbelievable twelve minutes, on which a special guest occurs, which surely everyone knows. Cronos from Venom did some vocals on that song. On the digipack, you'll also find the video of Blood Bound and some fan-related material. I'm very satisfied with the new album, although I expected more. So, fans of HAMMERFALL, go and buy this CD and you'll be steeled again!!!
