Frantic, brutal, chaotic, insane … that’s what I got in mind when listening the first time to Deviant Current Signal. Sound exhausting? It is … but hellish great too ;)
France own HACRIDE blend Strapping Young Lad with Meshuggah and Fantomas adding a slight death metal touch and balancing well between thrash and hardcore. Referring to mentioned bands of course means breakneck breaks, crazy sound samples and a wide array of stylistic elements generally. Even a Sax is to find on Protect. Pace gets dynamically changed, besides furious blast attacks one will also find some quieter passages, beautiful guitar solos or just ass-kicking monster riffs as on Polarity and Flesh Lives On.
But most impressing thing is that the French men on their debut album never lose the thread, go over the top despite of all covered stylistics and elements. It’s all well-balanced; otherwise this album would have been an indigestible piece of music.
With the regular 6 tracks HACRIDE added two demo version (Cold and Down) taken from Cyanide Echoes which was released in 2003. Good idea as it gives more value for the money.
