GRIMNESS was founded in Italy by Valerio and Jonah as a two-man band in December 2001. Very much inspired by Scandinavian Black Metal and old school Thrash bands. In March 2002 Frax joined the band as bass player. Summer 2002, they had 5 tracks ready to record which they later did in October. In November 2002 another guitarist, Andrea Chiodetti joined the band as a session player, but he soon became a full-time string slayer adding his death metal influence to the band. In spring 2003, Frax was replaced by Willer. GRIMNESS has shared the stage with such bands as Theatres des Vampires, Infernal Poetry, Ghouls, Brash and Noctifer. And in March 2004, the band recorded their first full-length album Increase Humanity Disgust.

Introspection Of The Engine an introduction to destruction. Building and building on itself, until it breaks loose on you in a full-on black metal attack. This would make any Norwegian go: "hot damn!". Track three: Katharsis In Vain, bludgeons your mind with its amazing drum and guitar intro, leading into a feeling of unholy bliss. Slay The Demiurge puts you in that feeling where you want to actually want to go slay something fury, cuddly, and cute. Like a goat or something. The more I listen to this band I believe they could be the "next big thing" in black metal. Move over Satyricon! I think once this band gets a few more albums under their belts and a little more notoriety they will have you beat! I definitely recommend this album to everyone! Anyone who listens to metal; whether it be black, death, and any other sub-genre should pick this up NOW!
