Individual reasons to hate God are things of the past. Meanwhile four rowdies found a generally accepted code, which can be executed on every God. At least one can reach this conclusion when mentioning the countries of origin of GODHATECODE’s (prominent) members. Wolfgang Rothbauer (Thirdmoon, In Slumber, Eisblut) and Armin Schweiger (Distaste) compete for Austria, Avulsed bass-man Tana is field for Spain and all of them are hunted by Swedish and former Grave drummer Pelle Ekegren, actually flaying the drums in Coercion. Knowing each other since almost 15 years because of touring and so on, it seems that they spilled out their guts in several religious discussions whose are trussed sometimes and banned onto Aeons. And that this won’t go on less prude can already discovered in the quite short playing time of nearly 32 minutes. This release goes straightforward without run the risk of losing technical comprehension; no question, they got it musically. And when they celebrate depressed riffs parallel to blast- and double-bass attacks GODHATECODE is a factor front and center. Aeons is pegged as Brutal Death Metal willingly, I really can’t support this. Arcs of melodies are interspersed time and again so this speaks a foreign language. Also the final shot in the neck does: Narcoleptic Wrath caters a phat moshgroove besides the blastparts, the vocals aren’t to find in the depths all the time – Armin Schweiger with his grind proofed voice makes sure that there is enough room above the Death Metal depths. I want to round off this: Aeons includes three clear highlights for me: first the opener Crawl Down To Zero which hits you like a plank in your puss, the German intonated Seelenkalt that rises up to a real crusher with its bearing melody and finally the already mentioned combination of playing fast and slow elements contrariwise. Single defect: Aeons isn’t able to keep the submitted high standard at any times. So, the one and other song seem to be slightly ineffectual and less slip-proof. If GODHATECODE settle the right settings we should be prepare for a damn good banger.
