EKPYROSIS (do not confuse with Austrians Power metallers Ekpyrosis) like it extremely basic when it comes to the band’s information policy. The full facts are yet to be established! ;) EKPYROSIS vehemently refuse any kind of (digital) hold and conceivability. But since EKPYROSIS emanate from the house of Bonn, Germany-based label Zeitgeister Music I would be not surprised to find Christian Kolf or Florian Toyka (both Island, Valborg… etc.) behind the mask. That special kind of music, voice and singing as well as the ironic lyrics suggests itself.
However, after the half-hourly one-track-eargasm Mensch aus Gold, released in 2008, a new record got pushed into the spotlight. With nine untitled tracks Ein Ewiges Bild celebrates a pitchblack manifest of Avant-garde Black Metal, created with the essences that once constituted the groundwork of Celtic Frost and Darkthrone, combined with the individualism, intensity and creative otherness Zeitgeister Music is known for.
The musical closeness to the other six label bands though is omnipresent. Well, we are talking about a very small circle of musicians here. So, I unfortunately have to state that Ein Ewiges Bild does not reach the highly innovative level of bands such as Island and Gruenewald for example nor does EKPYROSIS offer anything new, if you know the other bands already. It’s really a pity and a tiny doubt about the label policy springs up.
From an exterior view Ein Ewiges Bild remains to be a unique and unusual piece of music, recommended to all open-minded music lovers of this genre.
