And it happened again... *sighs*. Once again I first got aware of a band from my hometown as their first ever and self-financed release Kingsize landed onto my desktop: EAT THE GUN! These 4 guys rock the hell and leave scorched earth since 1995. In this special case Kingsize isn’t the normal EP; I got an extended version with 7 regular tracks and 5 new and to date unreleased ones. Thus 11 tracks with a rockin‘ running time of 30 minutes.
Rock was yesterday - EAT THE GUN is passionate present and tomorrow's winning team... and... if everybody hates you and the hell ain’t hot enough, then it’s the right place! That’s what the info sheet says, a full-bodied announcement but though applicable. EAT THE GUN rock as hell, kick ass and makes you having a hellish blast. Just take songs like the AC/DC-like opener Welcome To The Show, Wild Child and Drop Dead. Hard Rock played in a heavier way as you might know from the 80‘s and hairspray bands like Guns’N’Roses, Aerosmith, Mötley Crew, Riot or without hairspray: AC/DC. But in fact none of these bands is perfectly fitting to describe what EAT THE GUN sounds like. These guys have their own style and live on stage all clichés of sex, drugs and rock’n’roll ‘til the limit, but without acting any kind of ridiculous (as Manowar do for example). Of course a ballad has not to be missed out: The Whole World. Ok, some riffs have still significant influences of their paragons, never mind, it rocks! The production can be described as pretty heavy and specific to the band. Just the voice of singer Hendrik could be more in the foreground.
Kingsize can be purchased via the band’s homepage by paying 7€. And next weekend I’ll go out to see them live! RRRrocK!
