Slowly, the gates of the mind open when elegiac riffs and thoughtful clear vocals dominate the first minutes of this album. But this contemplative silence is totally deceptive, as abruptly Black Metal takes over the command; from the voice technique, a desperate touch now comes into operation. The sound world of DYNFARI lives from these enormous opposites, because thoughtful, gently moving passages change sometimes quite abruptly with ferocious Black Metal, so you can never be completely sure what happens in the next moment. The weighting of the two poles is different from song to song, sometimes the pendulum is more like black metal aggression, then choral arrangements care for a sublime mood. A certain amount of monotony is also one of the far-reaching stylistic features, but DYNFARI have a good hand for the right dosage, so that the pieces do not hang in too often repeated sound loops or have a boring effect.
The ballad-like tune Sorg creates a romantic bonfire feeling with acoustic guitars, spoken vocals and subtle flutes, before the piece 3rd Door: Madness interferes with hard riffs after a while, and elegiac instrumental parts determine the monumental end. A proper portion of epic broadness is always on board, very particularly pronounced with the final sound monster named 4th Door: Death. Then we meet the now familiar ingredients again: slow, thoughtful heaviness lulls us and gives us a feeling of relaxation, before the speed increases step by step and the surmanged chunk threateningly takes up pace. The tension collapses, but takes a second run towards the end and culminates in an unloading instrumental ending.
DYNFARI provide music for the soul - often quietly flowing, with short, powerful outbursts, which in the meantime create a vortex. Reminiscent of this are opulent soundscapes, whereas catchy choruses or classic hooks play no role. The Four Doors Of The Mind offers music for drifting away, taking off and drowning in!
