What a nice packaging with a black CD inside a stylish digi-pack, I like this positive optical and haptic experience! Aus Der Asche kicks off with a moody introduction called Der Aufstieg, corresponding to the band’s name through its birds’ croaks.
Afterwards, the musicians present a mixture of both rhythmical accentuated and fast-as-an-arrow played Black Metal during Nebel Und Regen in intense manner. Finely integrated guitar melodies add a dose of harmony, but hateful witching aggression dominates the scenery for a bigger part. Short and precise pieces come to the point consequently, furious speed gets broken by groovy passages and acoustic interplays.
I miss the one or other catchy refrain as barbed hook, so that Sühne Und Schmerz passes me by unobtrusively. Partly elegiac tunes like Seelenasche and longer works at the end of the record take more time to elaborate ideas better and act suspenseful therefore. Blutleere Stille offers a dynamic build-up, starting with a gentle introduction, followed by poisonous vocals and neck-breaking tempo, ere a spoken part and melancholic chords lead the song into a calm punch line including bonfire mood and shamanic flutes – this is not bloodless at all, guys!
The grand finale Der Abgrund surprises with threatening sound walls, a mixture of growls and nasty screeches as well as sharp riffing, representing the aggressive side, but in the background we come across felicitous melodies and groovy accords got their place additionally. Sound layers are piled up opulently and break down abruptly after 10 minutes.
DER ROTE MILAN chases in enormous speed, the bird bags its prey very effectively, if it takes some time to focus on the target in variable methods and grabs the object of desire in merciless way.
