The first
impression was wrong. The new DRILLER KILLER
recording unfortunately isn’t the expected hammer album,
far from it! Compared to the forerunner Cold, Cheap
& Disconnected the new album seems to be quite
weak. Singer Cliff and his partly new line-up seem to have found
it more necessary to create enormously original song-titles, for
example Thefuckhumangrenade, Dakapokalypse,
Nightmarathon or 3one6one4 than to write really
aggressive DRILLER KILLER crust material. Most
of the new songs lack of drive and the compositions pass by really
unimpressive. There are no more surprises, because the band is
walking on overloaded crustcore paths. Everyone who dealt a bit
with the other DRILLER KILLER albums could easily
foretell the next cue of the vocals or the leadguitar.
Of course it’s beyond all question, that DRILLER
KILLER still are better then 95 per cent of all the other
stylish related bands, but if you are used only first-class albums
from a certain combo, something like The 4Q Mangrenade
(should that stand for “The Fuck You Mangrenade?) is really
a disappointment.
