The February is truly action-packed: the industry slaps out tons of strong albums like Asesino, Lost Dreams, Ascension Of The Watcher, Death Angel and so on. And right in the middle DISMEMBER emerge with their eleventh release by now. Of course, there will be slashers again, who will write down banal statements like “always the same”, “for veterans only” or “graying”. But is there any reason why the warriors around Matti Kärki should change their style of killing? Dudes, in the year 2008 the Swedes have still so many power in their asses, that they can easily catapult themselves right into the universe if they want to. Every track screws off your head, no matter if it’s an absolutely heavy juggernaut like No Honor Of Death played in best Hellhammer or Autopsy style or if it’s the mix of up-tempo and neck-breaking parts that blows you away as in the opener Death Conquers All, To End It All or Combat Fatigue. Every song earns the grade “of special merit” in song writing. It is clear that the colossal riff work and the ingenious melodies have the lion’s share on it. Just listen to Under A Bloodred Sky, this track is the perfect symbiosis of brutality and melody conjured by the incomparable riffing. At the end of this track one may ask oneself if this is still DISMEMBER who amazes or maybe Iron Maiden? The fact is: even if Fred Estby doesn’t bash the drums anymore (withoto belittle his credits in Death Metal in any way), DISMEMBER are in top form! The Europe Burns Tour has its kick-off these days, and if these shoes are as mighty, powerful and heavy as the same named track, which stands symbolically for it, may God have mercy on you! Dismember is crowned by the kinglike Black Sun at least. Over six minutes time fully loaded with power, strength, forbidding melodies, aggressiveness and goose bumps. Over six minutes of pure DISMEMBER. No doubt, you got it? I am completely enthused, thrilled and captivated. Certainly, there are some bands in the Death Metal pit that rock at eye level with the Swedes. But there are precious damned few ones who bring this energy to perfection and passion after nearly 20 years. I would like to close this review by citing DISMEMBER – this statement stands for itself:

AS LONG AS DISMEMBER LIVE – DEATH METAL WILL REIGN!
