It was back in 1992 when I bought a record entitled Rhapsodies In Red by an underground band called DISASTROUS MURMUR. This kind of death metal this Austrian band celebrated was extremely rough and bluntly. Cover artwork and lyrics have been very disgusting and gory, as death metal has to be. Because of the fact that the market at this time was really flooded by death metal releases DISASTROUS MURMUR got out of my sight within the following years. I don’t know anything about the reasons that I’ve received the promo copy of the current record Marinate Your Meat just ten months after the release. But I don’t care. Between Rhapsodies In Red and Marinate Your Meat there are fourteen years and within this time not only the line up has changed. From the line up Walter Schweiger (Bass), Manfred Perack (Drums) and Harald Bezdek (Guitar/Vocals) who recorded the debut album only Drummer Mampe is still there. Also the production which was handled by Martin Schirenc (Pungent Stench) this time sounds much cleaner then on Rhapsodies In Red. Also you will find some melody moments nowadays which was absolutely unimaginable back in 1992. Fortunately not everything has changed with Mampe and Co. The riffs are still immediately to recognize as DISASTROUS MURMUR. The cover artwork of Marinate Your Flesh looks very gory again of course. Even vocalist/guitarist Elmar Warmuth sounds more or less than original vocalist Harald Bezdek. The lyrics are nothing for feeble nerves. Splatter Is Better, Bondage Balls And Cock Dissection or Daily Toilet Torturing are only three examples that DISASTROUS MURMUR still write about the disgusting things in life. And then the boys have composed with the already mentioned Bondage Balls And Cock Dissection one hit for eternity. This melody within the chorus is just incomprehensible great! And with a little help of your computer you can watch two songs DISASTROUS MURMUR have played live on the Krawallhalla Fest 2005. Cool record!
