Wings Of Lead Over Dormant Seas is a battle field of emotions. Every little impulse of a feeling gets smashed and destroyed. You die… with a bleeding heart and a smile on your face. Massive and mighty the almost 20 minutes running opener Meridians rolls over your inner I, rising and going down, rising and going down, while guitarist Marc slashes your heart with his singing. What a monolith!
End, Infinite, with its 2 minutes, almost appears like a lost fragment of an instrumental interlude. Atmospheric it is, seemingly wanting to alleviate pains, before this record goes on with its quarter of an hour running sound walls. Epicenter is the next, stays instrumental most time, and varies in the middle with pounding, doomy riff work, till the singing sets in at the end of this track. Following Lotus Continent can be taken as a DIRGE classic and bridges back to the last output And Shall The Sky Descend. Here, consciously but minimalist used drums and guitars hammer on your head, always and always again, with little breaks in between to make you feeling safe. Always and always again… it tears on your nerves. And then… the grande finale! Nulle Part is on the first sight completely different musical artwork, the key to compensate suffered anguish. Nulle Part is a melancholic piece of music, Ambient-like despite of being massive and brutal. It goes under your skin, touches you deeply and brings Wings Of Lead Over Dormant Seas to a stunning, mesmerizing end.

Let me mention that this promo copy is just one side of the coin. The original release of Wings Of Lead Over Dormant Seas will contain 2 CD’s; one with the tracks described above and another one with the one hour running title-track. And… Nicolas Dick (Kill The Thrill) und Hichem Allaouchiche (Kanaan) contribute guest vocals on this record. I tell you, a high-class pleasure!

Resuming Wings Of Lead Over Dormant Seas sounds different to its predecessor And Shall The Sky Descend, released three years ago. This fourth opus sounds a bit softer, more harmonic and not that harsh anymore. But DIRGE still keep on experimenting and working meticulously. They compose sophisticated monuments and sometimes they just let it spontaneously flow. As for me Wings Of Lead Over Dormant Seas is definitely one of my albums of the year!
