Ladies,
gentleman, and esteemed primates! I present you the hard as nails
working 70ies/80ies Skateboarding superstar and full-time punk rocker
of US Bombs and THE HUNNS fame Duane Peters with
his fourth LP since the year 2000. Quite a workload there, congratulations.
Seems as if his accompanying musicians could not keep up with this
rate, though.
Together with
new recruit Corey Parks (aka the 6 foot 8 gigantic woman who,
along with her colleagues of Nashville Pussy, used to turn the
stages of the world into danger zones) its down to nasty business
as usual, with the exception of the singing chores having been
divided between Ms Parks (bitchy) and Mr. Peters (rough as sandpaper).
Full frontal
old school punk rock, sleazy like a facial, creamed with plenty
of sing-along and melodies, recorded live in the studio, for that
extra authentic stickiness. Naturally one won’t find anything
too innovative here (as if anybody had expected that), but the
amount of unusual breaks, speed changes and semi acoustic sections
is higher and of better quality than one is used to in this genre.
A thoroughly
convincing record with lots of strengths and suitable for most
parties, unfortunately without any real highlights or straight
hits. 8 points.
