There
are a lot of time changes, the guitars are performed with virtuosity
and sometimes weird melodies are created. The rhythm section is
doing the same way and that means a lot of variety. One or another
melody could have been written by above mentioned progressive death
metal gods Opeth, but the Damnation/Deliverance album-double seems
to be not the worst influence I assume. The vocals are also manifold,
I had to get used to the clear voice in the beginning, but it fits
the complete works perfectly. Talking about various speed in music,
DEVIATED PRESENCE are doing well in all variations
and they can satisfy with both slow songs like the relaxed entitled
Rest and fast compositions, just listen to Failures.
The monster track Storm sounds like Lacrimosa in the last
part, which turns out to be a hidden track named Reawakening.
So the mood often changes, it’s a contrast bath of feelings
All songs are longer than 6 minutes, but DEVIATED PRESENCE
are able to stay suspenseful all the time, everything seems to fit
in, technical parts and well-sounding passages go together, deep
growled vocals harmonise with clear voice. In short: a felicitous
album with a lot of surprisingly moments. |
