DEMONIZER
stand for uncompromising and competent played Black/Thrash Metal,
close to the atmosphere that bands like Nocturnal Breed or Immortal
disperse. The Belgians act in very intense manner and cudgel felicitously
through nine not all too different structured songs. For a bigger
part intense thrashing reigns, enwrapped into a sound arousing
the feeling of dirty old school Thrash-attitude without clinging
undifferentiated or old-fashioned.
At first the Triumphator seems to hunt without overwhelming
ideas in a one-dimensional way. The acting-out of some high speed
songs like The Wolf Inside or Purify In Legacy is
chaotic at first sight, but during the second listening everyone
will get aware of the fact that the musicians know their profession.
The music is spiced up with some surprises like the very melodic
guitar lead during the merciless speeding track Alcoholic.
The title song Triumphator is the most outstanding tune;
the band slows down partly and convinces in mid tempo structures
too. First minutes of just named piece enthuse through high speed;
afterwards the sentiment changes and nearly groovy passages dominate,
ere DEMONIZER let the hammer fall again. So the band lets
off steam in the course of this quite long lasting composition.
DEMONIZER have more to offer than one sentiment, towards
the album’s end the group shows some affinity to anthem-like
Black Metal, giving enough space to the thrash-attitude to unfold.
Unfortunately I miss one certain instance concerning DEMONZER:
one direct hit, that catches you absolutely, never releasing you
again, never leaving your memory. The striking Let Them Hate
has got some good approaches.
In the end,
the quartet scores with intensity and explosive speed attacks,
so that the disadvantage of an outstanding composition can be
compensated. Although Triumphator does not enthuse
entirely, the album affords convincing metal, performed with a
lot of heart-blood!
