It took four
years that the Austrian Thrash-faction named DEMOLITION
centers us their next wrecking ball. Sending a sign of live in
2004 (Existence) the fourth release is called suitingly
Relict IV. Do these guys have a four-fetish? We will
check this out in the upcoming interview – stay tuned. At
least is said, that the actual line-up works against the four-power
assumption. The warriors got a fifth guy on board whose name is
Janos Murri. And he gives the DEMOLITION power a special
kick. This doesn’t mean that Existence was
less good (anyhow, our writer Psycho drew the 8,5 point-card for
it). However, by this many more possibilities to diversify in
riffing and solos are given. And this bears on the complexness.
One isn’t only straight thrashing forward like it can be
heard in the opener Reborn/Re-Failed, The Fortress
as an impulsive track supplies a touch of Hypocrisy, opening with
an intro in best Machine Head manner Deconstruced World
flirts with Bolt Thrower initiated by the guitars and of course
some phat Thrasher like Over Nails are dished. In turn
Blood, introduced by Slayer, is a heavy track, which shines
through its structure and the atmosphere created by this. Frontman
Wolf also is concerned with. This guy attends nearly every flavor,
never mind if it’s Death Metal or Thrash Metal, Wolf calls
every style his home; as well the vocals are double featured.
The plenty things DEMOLITION are working with make several
cycles absolutely necessary to catch the complexity.
I don’t agree to the production on the other hand. As plenty
the vocals are, they are overbearing and the guitars are eclipsed.
This potential should have used better and more intense. The same
consider for the double bass. These sound disimpassioned and harmless
instead of making the clothes flutter. Nevertheless, Relict
IV will bring much fun to lots of Thrash Metal maniacs.
