Not many bands
– except for (the real) Incubus and the successor Oprobrium
– were (or are) able to combine American death metal with
bay-area thrash, without using Norse or Swedish elements. Well,
DE LIRIUM'S ORDER are from Finnland and really
don't sound like ..erm.. forest and other kitschy things.
On Victim
No. 52 one can find true, technical Morbid Angel-
like death metal mixed up with hard thrash metal, some sick melodies
and strange rhythms, but the death metal- influence is always
in the foreground.
To avoid monotonous boredom, the band often adds very melodious
guitar solo (Masterpiece Of A Morbid Mind, Victim No. 52
and especially Through The Eyes Of A Murderer, that reminds
one of Helloween (!), no joke) and varies the speed from midtempo
to blastbeats, so that the two guitarists S.M. Nekroc and Dr.
Lirium (sic!) can show all of their abilities, combining high
standard and catchy hooks. Great.
The release is very well produced and comes with a clear and powerful
sound.
I think DE LIRIUM'S ORDER will soon take place
in the first row of the death metal- scene, since The Sunrise,
last song on the CD, is a real hymn. Victim No. 52
is one of the best death/thrash outputs, that have been released
in the last time.
