Fans of the
Norwegian cult band can be very happy, because of the almost annual
releases of the legendary DARKTHRONE. With Sardonic
Wrath they created a real masterpiece of pure and
raw Black Metal, which is dedicated to the deceased Quorthon (R.I.P.).
The nine tracks on the CD last 34 minutes and had been born on
a farmhouse where the two masterminds rehearse and jam.
Filled with
hate, the ceremony starts with an ambient-electro intro called
Order Of The Ominous, which is interrupted by the fast
drums of Fenriz of the next track Information Wants To Be
Syndicated. The beginning of this discussed song knows how
to kick ass by it's fast drumming, although the following songs
and also the ending of this one, are played in mid-tempo. According
to Nocturno Culto's statement the tracks of Sardonic Wrath remind
of the, in 95' released album Panzerfaust.
However, this recording is more clear.
Brilliant
songs like Straightening Sharks In Heaven or Sacrificing
To The God Of Doubt regale the listener with their hateful
vocals and their inimitable rhythm. This is DARKTHRONE’s
“true Norwegian Black Metal” as we know and love it.
With the track
Alle gegen Alle the two Norwegians show us that they
are able to speak German, although only the song title is in German.
The musical
request for a new law, named Hate Is The Law is again
some kind of faster and contains a duet of Fenriz and Apollyon
(Aura Noir)
Unfortunately
typical of DARKTHRONE is that hole CD ends after
34 minutes playtime.
After all
Sardonic Wrath is a masterpiece for
all DARKTHRONE and Black Metal fans, but those
who don't like DARKTHRONE’s sound anyway
won't change their opinion and won't be impressed.
P.S.: The
cover is really fascinating.
