Like a ghost she seems to appear from nowhere, conjured from the other-world and shrouded in mystery that is always with her, in her voice and in her music: Jayn H. Wissenberg and her project DARKHER. And so is The Kingdom Field, her first official manifestation, a magical place of haunting intensity, blending Dark Ambient, Folk and Witch House.
The Kingdom Field offers four tracks, sparingly orchestrated but always with tribal-like drum rhythms. Four songs of earthy power (Ghost Tears, Foregone) and fragile beauty (Hung). Guitars are omnipresent, clean and distorted. Occasionally a cello leaves its trace, while subtle sounds build up this eerie atmosphere. Jayn H. Wissenberg unites fragility and power in her mesmerizing voice, she does not dominate the music, she is just one with it. With the instrumental title-track nodding towards Alcest, DARKHER vanishes from this world again.
It is difficult to name references. Esben And The Witch came to mind (if you take the Hexagons EP),  Silje Wergeland and Monica Richards vocal-wise, just to give you a hint.
It is much easier to say that with DARKHER Prophecy Productions once again added a musical gem to its roster. And I’m much looking forward for the first full length.
The Kingdom Field is a wonderful piece of music, of haunting beauty and deep spiritual confidence.
