DARKFALL’s
compositions are dominated by nicely elaborated guitar lines,
well dosed aggression, catchy but not at all dull or superficial
grooves and unobtrusive measure changes. These tunes are definitely
made for the stage because of numerous mid-tempo rhythms to bang
your head.
I come across continuous guitar leads and quite variable structures
during the track Misery Of Peace; in addition, I appreciate
the perfectly integrated speed alteration in the song’s
middle. The refrains do not hit the emotional nerve centre immediately,
the simplicity acts like surreptitious advertising in case of
Fading Away. Phoenix Rising speeds up a little bit
and clatters into the auditory canals with biting vocal angriness.
The Gods Await scores through wonderful twin-guitar harmonies,
whereas Never Ending Hate attacks the neck vertebrae in
vehement manner. Every now and then, the guys integrate discreet
modern effects and enrich the piece Rise To Dominate in
stylish way. Then again the rhythm section rolls along in interesting
style in course of Echoes From The Past, perishing the
last relic of resistance to mosh. In contrast, I like the calm
interplay during the song Peacemaker, ere the re-recorded
Kill The Need cares for a final exclamation mark with its
wonderful piano accompaniment.
Striking catchy or overacted melodic music cannot be found on
this release fortunately, but fine guitar runs, impelling grooves
or some short breathers enjoy the listener’s ears. That’s
the way I like my trip on the Road To Redemption!
