Wow! That’s
a shitload of brutality DAEMONLORD from Spain
deliver with their latest release! Hellfire Centuries
was made by only two band members, as a drummer does not belong
to the studio line up of the Spaniards from Aretxabaleta.
That fact leads to one of the few things I have to criticize regarding
this album: The machine made drums provide some breathtaking speed
and partially unbelievable tempo changes, but at all, those are
sometimes beyond belief.
Merely anything else on Hellfire Centuries
is very convincing, though. Starting with the completely inhuman,
distorted vocals by Egnar, which are contributing to the fierce
and sinister ambience of the album. They are accomplished by really
good guitar work; all the riffs and hooklines are very well worked
out, despite their sometimes enormous speed. And there’s
even some melody in the lines where you won’t expect it!
Especially the first two songs, Rifles And Hammers and
Riding The Mushhushu are worth a try, and they are my
favorite songs of this release. When you like old fashioned Black
Metal with some fresh ideas, this is your album!
