ASGAIA
definitely know how to build up an eerie sentiment; at the same
time they do not forget about a downright touch of dynamics and
felicitous heaviness.
Concerning
the vocals, we are confronted with dark growls, sometimes alternated
by a clear voice. Every now and then, the keyboard adds the one
or other idea in the background. Consequently, this instrument
enriches the scenery instead of killing the aggressiveness. The
songs are easy traceable and harmonious, they partly feature an
unobtrusive symphonic touch.
A certain catchiness and interest towards melodies can be felt
at any time, but the musicians do not exaggerate with sweet and
constructed build-ups. What’s the brownie point of this
tactics? Trinegra got demand and sets its focus
on long-term-effects. It needs a few turns to get to the core
of this record.
In between, the quintet throttles the speed felicitously and boosts
the variability. Consequently, the short interplay called The
Void seems to be necessary despite its first pale impression.
The following track Disappearing I shows up in more aggressive
manner because of the predecessor. In this case, some symphonic
Black Metal influences are interspersed and attach more penetrating
power. The tune is catchy, but not mundane.
Single keyboard sequences during Downfall Of Land disperse
a cheesy flair, but this deficit is balanced by the cool guitar
melodies. The instrumental conclusion called Locrian Time Of
Arrival finally gets out of line completely with its epic
structure and marks a welcome surprise.
In all, I
like ASGAIA‘s way to combine melodies and heaviness,
Besides, the enriching elements clear vocals and keyboards are
used in not exaggerated manner. Trinegra tries to
count with homogeneity; unfortunately I miss a downright band’s
hymn, an extraordinary composition, which would crown the nice
overall impression.
