Sometimes you don’t get what you see – but in this case the content sounds exactly this way the label offers. Dull, hellish grooving and catchy presented with sinister gurgling voice, partly screeched in nasty manner, Death Fucking Metal hits the listener. Sometimes dragging, then again faster, the material offers what every Death Metal lunatic expects. The compositions are compact and firm, unfortunately they seem to offer less variety.
Former lacking alternation comes to the fore in second piece With Every Human Sin in form of a short and calm interplay. This tactic is used again later during Life Fluid Addiction to loosen up the quite monotonous sound. In addition the accentuated bass play gathers a brownie point. This composition will cause some breaks of neck vertebrae when played on stage! This was the second coup and the third banger soon follows… thereby My Warpath nearly invites to Death-Metal-folding-table-swaying with its borne structure… but all jokes aside: this song speeds up towards the end – and the integrated pealing of bells is a nice idea to care for an unconventional nuance in very common style.
In further course ANCIENT EXISTENCE hammer and groove through their program made for extreme expression dance like in the past. Melodic lead guitars flash through in unobtrusive manner fortunately and do not bother the stoic pounding, but the two counterparts complement each other.
The band offers a nice surprise with the Hymn For The Doomed, sticking out enormously, because highly melodic guitars and distorted clear voices dominate. Consequently some fans could be irritated, I was not sure to listen to the same group… friends of experiments will click their tongue, traditionalists may sigh – but last mentioned squad can breathe a sigh of relief till the end of this CD: from now on the hammer rules anew.
So the court 40 minutes are over quite fast and convey the feeling of a diverting release with entertainment value sadly leaving less space for innovation. I assume that no fan of ANCIENT EXISTENCE did expect this and that’s why every listener will be content: beginning with the cover, over to the attitude up to the sound Death Fucking Metal contains what its title suggests, namely pure and pristine Death Metal to the bone!
