The impetuous
but at the same time melodic Fins ALGHAZANTH will conjure
up an enthusiastic smile on these fans counting Catamenia to their
favorite bands
Like their “big brothers” in the beginning of their
career ALGHAZANTH combine fast-as-an-arrow and Nordic-cold
Black Metal with keyboards as well as outstanding melodies, sometimes
offering their brilliance in the background only. The keyboard
accompanies the scenery and does not step to the foreground. Fortunately
ALGHAZANTH do not use high speed attacks continuously,
but also care for atmosphere, proved by the acoustic part in the
opening track Moving Mountains. Named passage is quite short but
very important for the composition’s structure. It is obvious
that the band acts in self-reliant manner and takes much time
for acting out their numerous ideas in quite long tracks. The
variable voice cares for alternation and enthuses in screeched
and dark growling style. The acribic elaborated melody lines do
not have a penetrating effect from the first second on, but with
every turn the songs’ intensity gets increased and the compositions
arouse an addictive impact. I want to highlight The Kings To
Come, because this track shows best that ALGHAZANTH
are not content with some nice chords repeating over and over
again – after five minutes, a very good, unheard melody
appears proving the group’s attempt for continuous first
class quality. The musicians speed on offering nearly no chance
for taking a breath during the track The Phosphorescent.
Anew the build up does not miss out atmospheric parts and so a
highly melodic borne interplay shows the band’s attitude
to entertain at best. Towards the end, ALGHAZANTH let the
guitars sound without company so that the composition stays suspenseful
till the last note. The other compositions are also presented
in symphonic, rapid, but then again partly borne speed –
and with this tactics the band wins me over totally. Thereby it
is not so important that the group does not manage to compose
one direct smash hit, because the focus is set on detailed, alternated
titles and the creation of majestic, dark and haunting sentiments.
At least I want to emphasize the track Rain Of Stars featuring
very interesting as well as capturing melodies crushing into the
auditory canals because of their brilliance. In addition, the
last but one piece Future Made Flesh does not fit the scheme
because of its simplicity, but this is not meant negatively at
all. This breather is very welcome due to its throttled speed.
Wreath Of Thevetat leaves a lasting impression on
me, arousing the hope that ALGHAZANTH are able to act like
Catamenia bringing their musical art to perfection. I expect further
turpitudes with eagerly anticipation!
