Don't let this split CD lure you on the wrong track from the first quiet minute, because pure underground sound reigns here, performed by the Carinthians AHNENHAMMER and the Mexicans WHISPER MOON.

AHNENHAMMER are special and need getting used to. The rattling sound fits the nasty and bristly pieces in a very authentic way. This duo usually works at a slow or moderate tempo, with the opener Abyssus Abyssum Invocat a gentle guitar motif is carefully integrated into the arrangement and confronts the nasty, sometimes desperately screamed vocals in harsh contrast. Grimnismal conjures up Odin and bewitches the listener with maelstrom-like, sluggish rhythms and a discreetly symphonic finish. Later we find ourselves Hinter Den Toren Walhallas (behind the gates of Valhalla) in a whirlpool of martially angry atmosphere and bestially spat out vocals in a repulsively cold yet fascinating world of sound. The disturbing and at the same time gripping impression is intensified by the final short work Vaterland, which shakes up the soul stomping and misanthropic.

From now on WHISPER MOON blast off even straighter and with a very discreet melody part. Without any experiments, the musicians rattle the uncompromising Noche Espectral around our ears, leave a somewhat unspectacular impression, before they cleverly vary the speed of the band anthem Whisper Moon and make the jagged attacks more effective by throttling passages. The mystical Escarnio builds up an eerie horror movie atmosphere at first and then, with high-speed debris and intense screams, extends its claws without forgetting a cool rock attitude as a special ingredient.

This collaboration satisfies every underground blackie with a sound miles away from being trendy. The two bands convince with down-to-earth black metal, which fortunately is not just reduced to simple aggression.
