Unfortunately AGONY is a scaring example of how a band can still helplessly stray through its own material, looking for an own style after having released the third record. It’s surely not due to the technical skills these Czech quintet displays, rather their blend of Gothic and Death Metal that is totally faceless and out of time. Any interest falls off very quickly.
Consequently My Turn To Die is spreading nothing but boredom. Songs like Alone, Endless Remorses, My Turn To Die and Welcome To My Empire sound like the thousandth clone of genre-typical stylistic means and elements. Anyway, they ditched most of female singing, female keyboard player Petra only comes into operation at the last song Black Rose.
There is not that much to tell about this record. And there might be releases in this genre more terrible than this one. AGONY’s music is lacking of variety, too many riffs are known and already used anywhere else and production isn’t adequate either. Sorry, cannot give more that 4.5 points.
