During the
first minutes, the music of this Portuguese band wiggles in slow,
monotonous and atmospheric manner; sonorous and felicitous vocals
dominate the sentiments besides calm guitar chords, ere harsh
vocals come into operation while the speed is augmented. Very
nice vocal harmonies and unloading instrumental parts take on
the lead; an extremely contained mood is spread, because a spoken
voice and reduced instrumentation take place. Afterwards, the
spirit changes again, as a moderate aggressive touch can be felt
and we can see that the variable way of composing shows up clearly
during the opening tracks Neophyte and Os Vultos.
Wonderful vocals and moody sounds are also celebrated during the
felicitous song Lady Of Shalott. In contrast, the following tune
Liber XLIX
is more aggressive, caused by the raging vocals. The same is true
for The Lost King Of The Lyre with interspersed double
bass, ere the epic concluding work Chrysopoeia invite to
a rollercoaster ride through all kinds of moods.
For me personally, the band sounds a bit like My Dying Bride concerning
the build-up of sentiments, but without the hefty Death Metal
outbursts. The voice might enthuse all likers of The Foreshadowing.
In all, the
quite long tracks hold a lot of suspenseful parts and decent variations.
Consequently, it is a pleasure to look in The Mirror Of
Deliverance!
