After Peaceville Records have lost their interest in ABSCESS after the release of Through The Cracks Of Death (2002) the band have signed to Tyrant Syndicate, the label of Nocturno Culto and Fenriz (Darkthrone). But the fact that Tyrant Syndicate cooperate with Peaceville Records is really funny. However, Horrorhammer is the first result of this cooperation. And you don’t have to be afraid of too big changes within in the sound of ABSCESS. As they did within the blessed Autopsy times Chris Reifert and co rape through songs with so friendly titles like Drink The Filth, New Diseases, Hellhole or March Of The Plague. The production of Horrorhammer is clean to my surprise if you compare it to the previous releases of the band. But don’t be afraid! ABSCESS still play dirty raw Death Metal and shit on the big commercial success! The Opener Drink The Filth comes very ugly through the speakers. Exactly as you may expect from ABSCESS. Fast and absolute unfriendly sounds the entrance into the kingdom of Horrorhammer. The former Autopsy member Chris Reifert and Danny Coralles, the former Hexx guitarist Clint Bower as well as bassist Joe Allen put on more then with New Diseases and Poison Messiah which are both typical for ABSCESS before they play a song called Another Private Hell which sounds like a number of the punkrock legend Ramones played the Death Metal way. Well done! The following tracks like When Witches Burn or Four Grey Walls kill then without end again. Especially the brutal organ of Chris Reifert is still singular! Horrorhammer is fantastic! To all fans of primitive Death Metal: BUY IT!
