And again stuff from Italy. It seems ZEDHER are not able to speak any English. Well, maybe I can use this sheet to light the fireplace in winter (you don’t have any Psycho? ;) – Cal). Instead they try to attract attention with brutal and sanguinary pictures on their (Italian written) homepage, probably from likewise meaty Italian horror movies … Ok, I GOT IT … you’re soooo evil!
Musically one will get brawly mid-tempo black metal with some faster passages and death metal influences, whereas the general approach has to be quite melodic. I don’t know why I feel sometimes remembered of old Deicide, since ZEDHER’s music doesn’t have anything to do with them musically. It might be because of the influences of Gloomy Grin (without keys) I can hear out. On Metal Possession I like most the third track Phantasm, which convinces with coherent riffing, catchy harmonies and skilled structures. Zedher is quite varied too. Despite of some growls (as in Real Cannibal) singing is too one-dimensional in the length of time.
All things considered a promising first sign of musical life. If these Italian gents furthermore work consequently on their musical style and skills and rethink their visual approach and image I think they could develop something special. Anyways, for freaks having their roots deep in the underground and a soft spot for some bloody horror stuff Metal Possession shouldn’t be uninteresting.
