The previous album The Silent Force signified the commercial breakthrough for WITHIN TEMPTATION in Europe. Now the American Market shall be conquered, which shouldn’t be a problem for the band surrounding the new parents Sharon Den Adel (Vocals) and Robert Westerholt (Guitar) with their new release The Heart Of Everything. And not only because of the duet between Sharon and ex-Life Of Agony vocalist Keith Caputo on the great What Have You Done. Already the opener The Howling arrives very, very dark, but nevertheless contains all well known trademarks of the six Dutchmen. Big melodies, much pathos (just listen to Our Solemn Hour, then Therion could leave the scene), added by Sharon Den Adel’s wonderful as well as variable voice. Very cool is that the guitars have done one step forward and are more present again. And if you compare WITHIN TEMPTATION with other bands of that genre like for example Nightwish than it’s to be noticeable that Sharon Den Adel gives every single song it’s personal touch through her adaptable vocals. The title-track impressively The Heart Of Everything displays that. The production of the new record is much heavier as it has been fact on The Silent Force. Songs like the already mentioned The Howling, What Have You Done or Hand Of Sorrow belong definitely to the best WITHIN TEMPTATION have released so far. Strong record!
