My neighbours WORLD TO ASHES, natives of Baden, Freiburg (Germany), submit their first official studio production Of What There Is To Come to us. Does this MCD help them to fight on the front edge of battlefield area? Let’s listen: one of the six tracks is a feeling instrumental, all other songs are played in melodic Death Metal/Metalcore style. Analogies to In Flames or As I Lay Dying can not dismiss definitely. The reason for this can be found in WORLD TO ASHES’s history – the band founded back in the beginning of 2007 and certainly, they will develop their very own sound. However, what is shown on Of What There Is To Come sounds noticeable in view of short time of existing. Even though this is not the highest form of Metal, they know to master their instruments and to write songs. The four guys focus on variable art of playing, From Dust Into Haze is a very good example for this – check this song out. One varies the speed, pushes the pedal down to the ground before the sound turns into heavy weighted stuff. Somewhere right in the middle a lacing of melody and stomping rhythms are dished. A feeling and harmonic site of the natives of Baden is shown in the named instrumental. This song works very well as an introduction to the following My Hope In Your Hands. That what displease me is the production. It sounds too cold and sterile. A more intense production which makes this release self-contained would be absolutely desirable. Nevertheless: the Breisgau rocks with an interesting release! Not at the highest level indeed, but by developing the existing potential and with more experience, we may expect a lot more of WORLD TO ASHES.
