VREID
do not choose the easiest way, because the first track on their
album Milorg, entitled Alarm, lasts about
nine minutes. At the same time VREID prove that they know
how to entertain their fans. The band uses everything Metal has
to offer: fast played (Black) Metal with screeched vocals, mid-paced
Rock’n’Roll and slow interplays – or in short:
they care for alternation!
In further
course of this CD the different speeds in playing alternate and
I like that VREID set their focus on unleashed aggression
from time to time. The track Disciplined rushes in with
rapid intensity, ere a melodic guitar solo adds an anthemic zest,
boosted by a clear sung passage.
Interim a dirty Rock’n’Roll attitude comes to the
fore, contrasted and complemented by folkloristic interplays in
homogeneous style. VREID also know about the time for slowing
down, so that the fast parts can unfold their intense effect.
Continuously, the rapid and highly melodic lead guitars enthuse
in stoic as well as anthemic way.
Over and above, the use of marsh rhythms fits the elaborated lyrical
theme; Milorg (short for Military Organization)
is about a Norwegian resistance group in Second World War.
VREID
managed to record a coherent album with Milorg.
The compositions seem to be demanding and catchy at the same time.
Consequently the impression of a homogeneous and also surprising
variable band arouses. In all, this work turns out to be an acoustic
mouthful for musical gourmets.
